Accounting Internship Position 

Schmersahl Treloar is seeking interns to start in January 2019.  Schmersahl Treloar believes in developing well rounded public accountants.  As a result, interns play a vital role and have the opportunity to gain both tax and audit experience in a variety of industries.  Interns will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks including, but not limited to the following:

   

  • Providing support to associates and seniors on attestation engagements and performing assigned attestation procedures as needed
  • Preparing corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary and other tax projects
  • Preparing and analyzing client financial statements
  • Developing the skills to work effectively as part of a team, while functioning well independently
  • Becoming familiar with pertinent Internal Revenue Code sections and regulations
  • Learning tax and accounting research techniques

We will consider declared accounting majors.  Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter. 

Qualifications

  • Working on a bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel; Quickbooks a plus)
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel around the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area as needed.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness   to   learn   and   be   adaptive   to   changing   priorities   along   with   strong communication and customer service skills

Professional Staff Accountant 

Schmersahl Treloar is seeking professional staff accountants to join our firm.  Schmersahl Treloar believes in developing well rounded public accountants.  As a result, staff accountants play a vital role in every engagement and have the opportunity to gain both tax and audit experience in a variety of industries. A staff accountant will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks including, but not limited to the following:

  • Performing assigned attestation procedures
  • Participating in corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary and other tax forms
  • Preparing and analyzing client financial statements
  • Pursuing   continuing   education   by  attending   firm   sponsored   and   external   training seminars
  • Developing the skills to work effectively as part of a team, while functioning well independently
  • Becoming familiar with pertinent Internal Revenue Code sections and regulations
  • Learning tax and accounting research techniques
  • Interacting with client and firm personnel in a courteous and professional manner

We will consider recent graduates as well as those who expect to graduate in the next 6 months.  All interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other related field with 150 credits
  • CPA license, or demonstrated ambition to obtain CPA certification

Administrative Position 

Schmersahl Treloar is seeking an administrative assistant for the tax department.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Provide administrative support to tax professionals- including, but not limited to: preparing engagement letters, tax processing, e-filing returns and sending returns to clients.
  • Intake of client information – organize information, enter in applicable software
  • Update tracking spreadsheet daily during tax season. Run weekly reports for management team
  • Copying, assembling and binding proposals, financial statements, tax returns and various other reports
  •  Scanning & Archiving – file maintenance
  • Process Reports – such as quarterly & year end payroll, client mail merge
  • Invoicing – Keep client list up to date set up new and delete termed clients; Send annual, monthly and weekly invoices; Maintain spreadsheet of current clients
  • Maintaining office equipment on a daily basis (i.e., postage meter updates & reports, changing toner, stocking paper, and placing maintenance orders)
  • Ordering office supplies, business cards, etc.
  • Errands for office
  • Backup Receptionist and greet clients cheerfully

Qualifications and Personal Attributes:

  • Minimum 3 years of recent prior office experience - Required
  • Strong Computer Skills – MS Word and Excel are Required
  • Experience in public accounting preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with Strong Attention to Detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, high energy and strong work ethic.
  • Proven ability to succeed in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • The ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Ability to exceed goals, exhibit a sense of urgency and possess a continuous improvement mentality.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor with good presentation skills

Compensated overtime required during Busy Season, January 15 – April 15.

Individuals must be dependable, reliable, highly dedicated with a positive attitude, self-motivated, a team player who takes initiative and is willing to learn.
